Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy & Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 10, 2026

Welcome to DevTools by ZothNET, available at devtools.zothnet.com.

This page contains the Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, and Privacy Policy governing your use of DevTools by ZothNET.

By accessing or using this website, its tools, utilities, generators, validators, checkers, analyzers, formatters, or other features, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree with these terms, please discontinue use of the website.

1. About DevTools by ZothNET

DevTools by ZothNET provides free online utilities intended to assist developers, webmasters, system administrators, designers, website owners, and other users with common development and troubleshooting tasks.

Tools may include utilities for areas such as:

PHP development MySQL and SQL DNS SSL/TLS Email configuration HTTP headers and status codes Server configuration .htaccess PHP configuration Cron jobs Regular expressions JSON JWT Base64 Password and hash generation Text formatting Code checking Website diagnostics SEO and indexing Other development and webmaster-related tasks

The availability of any particular tool is not guaranteed and tools may be added, modified, replaced, limited, or removed at any time.

2. Tools Are Provided for Assistance Only

DevTools is designed to help users work faster and understand technical information.

It is not a substitute for professional judgment, testing, documentation, qualified technical assistance, cybersecurity review, legal advice, or direct examination of your particular system.

Results should be treated as guidance rather than unquestionable fact.

You are responsible for deciding whether any result, recommendation, configuration, command, generated code, explanation, or other output is appropriate for your situation.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy

We try to make DevTools accurate and useful, but no automated system is perfect.

This includes tools that:

generate code generate configuration files explain errors test regular expressions format SQL inspect headers validate DNS records analyze SSL certificates evaluate PHP compatibility generate passwords or hashes build cron expressions analyze .htaccess inspect PHP configuration decode data validate structured data provide security-related information suggest technical fixes

Automated tools can produce incorrect, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or inappropriate results.

Even a result that appears technically correct may behave differently depending on:

operating system PHP version database version web server hosting provider control panel application framework CMS installed extensions security configuration server permissions caching systems proxies CDN configuration third-party software custom code

You should independently verify important results before applying them to production systems.

4. Generated Code and Configuration Disclaimer

Any code, configuration, command, query, expression, password, hash, rewrite rule, server directive, or other content generated by DevTools is provided "as is."

You are responsible for reviewing and testing generated output.

Whenever possible, test changes in a development or staging environment before applying them to a live website or production server.

You should also maintain current backups before making significant changes.

We are not responsible if generated or suggested output:

causes a website to stop working produces an HTTP 500 error damages or deletes data changes database records affects server configuration breaks application functionality creates security vulnerabilities blocks legitimate visitors affects SEO interrupts email delivery causes downtime produces unexpected results

Typing something into a box and receiving nicely formatted output does not magically make that output correct. Sadly, the Internet has not yet evolved that far.

5. Security Tools Disclaimer

Any security-related tool provided by DevTools is intended for informational and defensive purposes.

A successful result does not mean a website, server, password, application, API, or network is completely secure.

Likewise, a warning does not necessarily mean that a system is compromised.

Security depends on many factors beyond what an automated web-based utility can inspect.

You remain responsible for implementing appropriate security practices.

6. Backup Responsibility

Before applying commands, database queries, code changes, configuration changes, rewrite rules, server settings, or other potentially destructive changes, you should maintain appropriate backups.

DevTools does not maintain backups of your systems or restore systems damaged by changes you make.

7. Availability of the Service

We do not guarantee that DevTools will always be available.

The website or individual tools may occasionally be unavailable because of:

maintenance upgrades server outages software problems security incidents network issues third-party failures hosting problems abuse prevention circumstances beyond our reasonable control

We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any portion of the service at any time.

8. No Service-Level Agreement

Unless a separate written agreement specifically states otherwise, use of DevTools does not include any uptime guarantee, response-time guarantee, support guarantee, service-level agreement, or warranty.

9. User Responsibility

You are responsible for:

the information you submit to DevTools how you use generated results testing changes before production use maintaining appropriate backups complying with applicable laws securing your own accounts and systems confirming that you have authorization to analyze any system or resource protecting confidential information

Do not submit sensitive information unless it is necessary for the tool you are using.

You may not use DevTools to intentionally harm others or interfere with systems you are not authorized to access.

DevTools may use Cloudflare services for security, performance, DNS, caching, bot protection, and Cloudflare Turnstile.

When Cloudflare services are used, Cloudflare may process technical information according to its own privacy policies and terms.

Cloudflare Turnstile may be used to determine whether contact form submissions or other requests appear to come from legitimate human users rather than automated abuse.

21. Data Sale

DevTools does not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

We do not operate DevTools for the purpose of creating advertising profiles from information submitted to developer tools.

30. Changes to These Policies

These terms and policies may be updated as DevTools changes.

Changes may be made to reflect:

new tools new features legal requirements security improvements changes in third-party services changes in data practices

The effective date displayed at the top of this page will be updated when significant revisions are made.

33. Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable laws of the United States and, where applicable, the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of DevTools by ZothNET is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable consumer or privacy law.

34. Advertisements

DevTools by ZothNET may occasionally display advertisements when visitors access certain developer tools. These advertisements help support the continued operation, maintenance, hosting, and development of the website while allowing the tools to remain available without requiring a paid account or subscription.

Advertisements are displayed through a brief interstitial or passthrough page before the requested tool opens. The normal advertising period is approximately 3 to 5 seconds, although this timing may be adjusted from time to time.

Visitors are not required to wait for the countdown to finish. A Continue to Tool option is provided so visitors may proceed directly to the requested tool at any time if they do not wish to remain on the advertisement page.

Advertisements are also frequency limited. They are not intended to appear every time a tool is accessed. Under normal operation, an advertisement may appear approximately once every five tool uses, or according to another reasonable frequency interval configured by the Site. Frequency, timing, and placement may be adjusted as necessary to balance operating costs with a reasonable user experience.

Advertisements may rotate between different sponsors, products, services, websites, or promotions. Clicking an advertisement is entirely optional. Depending on the advertisement, its destination may open in the same browser window or in a new browser tab.

DevTools by ZothNET does not necessarily endorse, guarantee, recommend, or assume responsibility for any third-party product, service, website, offer, statement, or content appearing in an advertisement. Any transaction, communication, registration, purchase, or other interaction between a visitor and an advertiser is solely between the visitor and the applicable advertiser.

The presence of advertising does not affect the operation or results of the developer tools themselves. Advertisements are displayed separately from tool functionality and do not alter, prioritize, or influence the output generated by the tools.

We reserve the right to add, remove, modify, rotate, suspend, or change the frequency and duration of advertisements at any time, provided that we continue to make reasonable efforts to avoid unnecessarily disrupting normal use of the Site.

35. Contact

Questions regarding these Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, Privacy Policy, or the operation of DevTools may be submitted through the Contact form on devtools.zothnet.com.

Short version

Use DevTools for legitimate development work. Don't use it to attack other people's stuff. Don't paste secrets into random text boxes. Back up your systems before making changes.

And most importantly, verify generated results before using them in production.

DevTools tries to provide accurate information, but validators can miss things, generators can generate bad output, error explainers can misinterpret an unusual situation, and technically correct code can still be completely wrong for your environment.

That clause absolutely belongs on this site. A tool can tell someone an .htaccess rule looks valid while Apache is sitting there preparing a 500 error like it's opening night on Broadway.
